System Requirements

While a publication made with H5mag can be viewed on any device that can display a web page the H5mag Live Editor has some system requirements.

The editor can be accessed anywhere in the world with a modern graphical web browser, and a keyboard and mouse for input. It is currently not possible to edit a magazine on a (tablet) device with touch input, or using old browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Recommended setup

For best productivity we recommend using the following setup. If you wish to use another setup, please read below about the possibilities.

  • Hardware: Desktop or laptop computer
  • Screen: 4K or more, dual display recommended
  • Input: Mouse/touchpad & keyboard
  • Browser: Latest version of Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome

Browser support

The H5mag Live Editor supports the latest (stable) versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari on all major operating systems, meaning Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux and Apple Mac OS X.

Older versions of the browser may continue to work for some time, but new features of H5mag are not tested with older versions of the browsers.

Screen resolution

A screen size of at least 1200 pixels wide and 768 pixels is required for the editor. This will allow you to see the full artboard. Optimal is a screen of at least 1920 pixels wide. This will also show you the article sidebar on the left side of the screen in expanded fashion.

The editor also functions at lower resolutions, but not being able to see the whole artboard will seriuously decrease productivity.

Troubleshooting

If the H5mag editor is not working properly, please check the following:

  1. Check if there are any updates for your browsers, and update if there are.
  2. Verify if JavaScript in the browser is enabled.
  3. Disable/uninstall any browser extensions and restart the browser.
  4. Contact us with your question. Include the name of your format, and possibly a screenshot.
